ISRA Bulletin, Volume 11 — April 2012

Read this bulletin to see how women’s participation, banking access and takaful protection were discussed in 2012. Its practical value is a set of questions to bring to a current service or plan—not a list of products you can assume are still offered. This record also maps the wider issue: Arabic scholarship, a historical transactions report, attributed fatwa excerpts, events and publication notices.

Start with a question, then the original report

01

Three questions to take into the bulletin

What makes participation workable?

Cover and printed 5–6: committee representation and support; the February 2012 table is a dated snapshot.

What improves access beyond branding?

Pages 3–4: banking services for women; distinguish useful access from promotional extras.

Which protection need and terms matter?

Pages 7–9: takaful discussion; use its questions, then obtain the terms for today’s actual plan.

These are newly written reading questions drawn from recovered reports, not the bulletin’s original diagram or a present product recommendation.

Sources: B2

Full text explanation

The three paths connect committee support to the unnumbered cover and printed 5–6, meaningful banking access to 3–4, and protection needs and terms to 7–9. All three reports are historical.

For example, a Malaysian reader comparing a medical takaful plan can use the 2012 report to think about protection needs. The decision still depends on today’s covered benefits, exclusions, contribution and certificate. A women-focused label by itself does not prove pregnancy cover, cheaper contributions or better protection. This is a new editorial example, not a case studied in the bulletin.

1 denotes the unnumbered cover by position; other numbers are printed page labels. Dashed cells 12–13 are missing.

Twelve PDF pages/spreads contain 22 issue pages including the unnumbered cover. The numbered sequence jumps from 11 to 14, preventing a complete-issue claim and retaining the original-file routing hold.

Full text explanation

The unnumbered cover is treated as page 1 by position. Printed pages 2–11 and 14–24 are present: 21 numbered pages plus cover, or 22 issue pages. Numbered 12–13 are missing and their contents remain unknown.

What the three sector reports contribute

The committee report discusses representation and practical support for women serving on Shariah committees, including research-secretariat support and meeting arrangements. Read the February 2012 table as a historical snapshot. Descriptions of gender in the report are the author’s discussion; they do not establish a universal ability or limitation of women.

Sources: B2

Sairally’s banking report considers whether services for women address useful financial access rather than only promotional extras. The takaful report by Abdullah discusses women’s protection needs and awareness alongside examples from the market then. These are historical sector discussions, not evidence that any listed 2012 product, price, coverage or medical statistic remains current.

What can be summarized

Recovered original reports and their printed locations, with original author credit.

What remains unverified

Pages 12–13, full issue completeness, revision date, and the page 22 internal chronology.

What today needs separately

Latest policy and the actual product certificate, schedule, exclusions and costs. Old tables cannot supply these.

A matching historical copy establishes more than a title-only citation, but an incomplete copy does not certify a complete issue or current contractual terms.

Sources: B2B1N1N2

Full text explanation

The verified issue identity and visible reports support a partial contents record. Missing pages, revision timing and an internal date conflict remain explicit limits. Current rules and individual product terms require separate originals.

An annotated issue citation can read: ISRA Bulletin, Volume 11, April 2012, ISSN 1985-7497; revised public repository copy, accessed 6 October 2026; printed pages 12–13 absent. For the takaful contribution, cite Abdullah, the displayed report heading, and printed pages 7–9, noting the repository’s alternative title. A deposit or update date is not a new issue publication date.

Sources: B1B2

The other contribution record supplies metadata but restricts its revised PDF to registered users. It does not fill the missing pages. The internal July 2012 wording beside earlier trainee admission dates on page 22 also remains unresolved; this record does not silently rewrite it.

Use separate originals for today’s decision

For Malaysian institutional governance, BNM’s later Shariah Governance document was issued on 20 September 2019. Its general effective date is 1 April 2020; paragraph 12.5 takes effect on 1 April 2023. Those are the stated dates of that document, not dates for the bulletin or confirmation that a particular transaction is compliant.

Sources: N1

Kaotim MediKad’s Product Disclosure Sheet (PDS) is a later document example. It describes a selected deductible and excludes pregnancy/childbirth. Its appendix says information valid as at May 2025 despite a filename/upload suggesting 2026. That date difference remains unresolved; this record does not certify a current offer.

Sources: N2

The provider also links public MediKad certificate wording, Version 2.0 (April 2025). It deducts the management fee before crediting the rest to a donated pool collectively owned by participants. Deductible exceptions appear on page 7 of the English wording. These documents do not establish your individual schedule or a verified current matching offer.

In Takaful Malaysia Am Berhad’s FAQ, Bike PA Plus is additional cover under myClick Motorcycle. It states the same total benefit payout for Muslim and non-Muslim participants, with Badal Hajj/Qurban components for Muslims. This named-product distinction does not establish medical-plan eligibility or a rule for every takaful plan.

  • Ask for the latest PDS, certificate and individual benefit schedule; compare their dates and product names.
  • Trace the contribution, operator fee and risk pool, then the conditions for a benefit payment. Ownership and claim obligations must come from the actual certificate.
  • Compare the annual contribution and renewal terms, deductible, co-payment if any, covered benefits, waiting periods and exclusions. Check how pregnancy and pre-existing conditions are treated.
  • A deductible is the amount you bear before the specified cover responds; a co-payment is a share of covered cost. Their actual bases and limits are product-specific.
  • Confirm eligibility and any Muslim/non-Muslim benefit distinction with the named plan. The 2012 bulletin does not answer a current application or claim.
