The archived Articles on Takaful index lists three papers. Its bibliography can be reconstructed, but the exact complete paper texts are not recovered here. This page separates available records from unavailable text and newly written practical explanation. Archived index.
What the collection covers
The index is a research collection, not a single Azman Ismail article. Its three subjects address different levels of takaful: arrangements behind the protection pool, possible distribution of fund surplus, and ownership of benefits. The map uses the verified titles to suggest questions to ask; it does not supply unseen arguments or rulings. Historical index.

Three research questions in the collection
Editorial topic map of the archived three-entry index; questions are not reported findings.
Articles on Takaful · archived 2009 index
Entry 1Retakaful and capital
Azman Ismail · What questions arise when risk-based capital standards meet retakaful arrangements?
Entry 2Surplus distribution
Younes Soualhi · Which Shariah and implementation questions concern the distribution of fund surplus?
Entry 3Ownership and hibah
Azman Mohd Noor in the index · Who may own a takaful benefit and how is nomination considered?
The three branches preserve the broader collection. An entry title identifies a topic; it does not prove an author’s answer. Sources: ARCHFull text explanation
The archived index has three entries. Entry 1 concerns retakaful and risk-based capital standards. Entry 2 concerns surplus distribution. Entry 3 concerns ownership and hibah. The questions shown are new editorial reading prompts; no conclusion is inferred from the titles.
Research bibliography
Titles below retain the index wording. Names are author credits, not current credential or affiliation claims. The 2009 capture dates the web page, not all three papers.
1. Fiqh Aulawiyyat in Retakaful — Between RBC (Risk-Based Capital) Standards and Islamic Institutions
Index author: Azman Ismail. The IEFpedia BY line matches that credit and points back to this index. Its 22 October 2009 date is a library posting date. Original paper date, pagination and conclusions remain unverified.
Available: index and mirror metadata. Unavailable: complete paper text.
2. Shari’ah Inspection in Surplus Distribution – Islamic Views and its Current Implementation
Index author: Younes Soualhi. The IEFpedia category links a related title using “Shari’ah Views and their Current Implementation”. The title variation is retained; a matching complete text is needed before treating the versions as identical. No original date, page range or conclusion is supplied here.
Available: index and library category metadata. Unavailable: exact full-text version.
3. Ownership and Hibah Issues in Takaful – Classical Discourse and Current Implementation
Index author: Azman Mohd Noor. The indexed first page of the linked IEFpedia PDF instead heads the work Ownership and Hibah Issues of the Takaful Benefit, credits Azman bin Mohd Noor and Asmadi bin Abdullah, and gives 11 November 2008 for the ISRA Islamic Finance Seminar. It identifies family takaful as its scope. The index’s single credit should not erase the second author. Full-text comparison remains outstanding.
Available: index and indexed first-page identity. Unavailable: complete seminar text.
Related accessible record with a different publication form
IIUM’s repository separately records Ownership and hibah issues of Takaful benefit by Azman Mohd Noor and Mohamad Asmadi Abdullah, published in 2009 in IIiBF Series in Islamic Banking and Finance: 1, pages 153–174. Its abstract concerns family-takaful death benefits, estate treatment and conditional hibah. This is a related book chapter, not a verified replacement for the complete archived seminar paper. The record and abstract are accessible; the linked PDF did not provide the full chapter for inspection. IIUM citation and abstract.

This annotated entry credits Azman Ismail. The archive snapshot is dated 3 July 2009 and the library post 22 October 2009. Neither supplies a verified original paper publication date. Page range and edition remain unverified. Available metadata does not establish full-text access.
Takaful contributions, fees and the risk fund
The following explanation is newly written. It is not attributed to the three historical papers. Retakaful concerns arrangements behind the fund; it does not replace the participant’s certificate. The selected e-Takaful Hayat wording gives the operator a role in arranging adequate retakaful subject to approvals and requirements. It does not mean an individual participant submits a retail claim to a retakaful provider. Certificate, surplus provisions.

A contribution is not all personal savings
New explanation of the public e-Takaful Hayat certificate, not a diagram from the historical papers.
Participant pays the agreed contribution
Operator roleWakalah fee
An agency fee is deducted for distributing and managing the certificate and fund.
Protection poolParticipants’ Risk Fund
The balance enters the collectively owned risk fund for benefits subject to the certificate. A pooled contribution is not an individual withdrawal balance.
This selected plan separates operator remuneration from the protection pool. Other takaful structures and fees differ; the applicable schedule and endorsements must be read. Sources: HAYATCWFull text explanation
Under the selected public e-Takaful Hayat wording, a wakalah agency fee is deducted from the contribution, and the balance is allocated to the Participants’ Risk Fund. The fund is collectively owned by participants and pays benefits under certificate conditions. This is a conceptual explanation, not a personal savings or claim-payment forecast.
The selected public Hayat certificate deducts a wakalah fee of 25% of the yearly contribution; it is taken from the contribution, rather than added a second time. One benefit-specific exclusion is accidental death caused directly or indirectly by participation in criminal or illegal acts. This is not the full exclusion list or a quotation for you. Answer application questions accurately and pay contributions when due; failure to pay can cause lapse under the certificate conditions. Obtain the applicable schedule and endorsements. Fee, accidental-death exclusions and obligations.
Surplus and a covered claim are different questions. Etiqa’s general-takaful surplus document lists eligibility conditions and expiry-year rates for 2021–2025; it supplies no verified 2026 rate. Do not reduce a quoted contribution by an expected surplus before deciding whether it is affordable. General-takaful surplus source.
For ownership after death, ask what role the nomination form assigns. The selected family certificate distinguishes an executor who distributes benefits under applicable law from a beneficiary under conditional hibah. Assignments, minors and individual circumstances need their own document checks; a historical title cannot decide your estate outcome. Nomination provisions.
A useful comparison before joining
Fictional example: Aisha and Mei Ling each want family protection in Malaysia. They ask for the same cover and term, then compare contributions, charges, exclusions and the nominated recipient’s role. Their names do not establish eligibility or a religion-based price. The motorcycle Bike PA Plus wording expressly includes non-Muslim recipients, with the same scheduled total benefit and Muslim-specific Badal Hajj and Qurban components; that is a product-specific example, not a rule for all takaful. C200, page 27.
The e-Takaful Hayat disclosure dated 24 December 2025 describes a death-protection plan, non-guaranteed contribution rates and exclusions. It is not a medical card. For investment-linked cover, Bank Negara Malaysia explains that investments fund protection and other charges and that participants bear investment risk. Compare the same purpose before comparing prices. Selected disclosure · Investment-linked policy, §§1.1–1.2.
Questions worth taking to the operator
Which dated disclosure sheet, certificate, schedule and endorsements apply to my offer?
What goes to protection, operator charges and any investment account? Which charges or contributions can change?
Which events are excluded, and what evidence is required for a claim?
Does surplus depend on declaration, fund performance and claim history? What happens if none is distributed?
Who receives a death benefit, in what capacity, and what do assignments or a minor recipient change?
These are editorial prompts for reading the actual contract, not eligibility or Shariah decisions.
